Props to the director and production staff! One of the two best movies of the 70's. I think this movie beats out most of the hack and slash films of the 80's. A must see for any horror/supernatural enthusiast.

This movie has a great story as well as a great back story (intro),Gargoyles waking up every 600 years. Will they survive the attack of the Gargoyles. They enlist the help of some "Dirt Bikers" including Glen a long with local authorities.

From that point on scary things begin to happen. When skeletal remains of a mythical nature are discovered in the desert, an old timer calls in a well known college professor (Wilde) who brings along his daughter (Salt) as an assistant. I even got a kick out of old "Uncle Willy". Veteran actor Cornel Wilde and up and coming Jennifer Salt and Scott Glenn were great. Great job Stan Winston ! The other characters were believable. Bernie Casey scared the hell out of me as the leader of Reborn every 600 years the gargoyles joined battle against man to gain dominion over the Earth. We learn that, 'My offspring, the gargoyles, will one day rule the Lord's works, Earth and man. Nothing at that time was being made especially for TV like this. This 1972 made for TV movie opens with pictures and woodcuts of the Devil and narration (Vic Perrin) of his fall from Grace. As a young kid into "Creature Features", I was blown away.

The first time I saw this was back in the late 70's. Gargoyles - Best TV Movie of the 70's (Horror) !
